Franck Costes is an abstract painter inspired by the ocean and nature.
Trained in set design and trompe-l'œil, he broke free from figurative art to dedicate himself to a free, organic, and luminous abstraction.
Through his paintings, Franck invites us to explore compositions rich in emotion.
Artistic beginnings
During a trip around the world, Franck Costes began his journey as a painter.
In 1994, he exhibited reverse-painted acrylic on glass, inspired by Parietal Art, in Los Angeles and the American West.
Technical improvement
Back in France, he trained in mural painting, specializing in trompe-l'oeil and faux finishes at the Michel Nadaï school.
In his early works, Franck glorified nature through trompe l'oeil windows.
Towards a more personal style
The year 2020 marked a turning point in his art, pushing him towards a more personal style situated between contemporary landscape abstraction and atmospheric abstraction.
Franck draws his inspiration from the marine and plant world that cradled his childhood in Les Landes and permeated his imagination. The ocean remains essential to his balance and creativity.
His paintings are thus influenced by this oceanic universe, both fascinating and harsh.
His canvases invite the viewer to introspection, an intimate journey.
